Illustrated Menu for a local café
Bunne&Büdche is a kiosk-café in Cologne founded as a passion project by two friends who focus on quality coffee, specialty beverages and homemade baked goods. With plans to expand their outdoor seating area, they required a table-based menu solution that clearly communicates their offerings and essential disclaimers while reflecting their established brand aesthetic.
Brand Translation into Print
With minimal direction beyond aligning to their modern, cosy and illustrative identity, the design approach centred on translating the café’s personality into a functional yet expressive print experience. The goal was to create a menu that feels embedded within the space not just placed on the table, but visually integrated into the atmosphere of the café.
Handmade Look-And-Feel
The final solution is a trifold menu designed for tabletop use, featuring custom illustrations and thoughtful custom typography. Text and visuals are composed to feel like a curated scene from the café itself, balancing product information, pricing and necessary legal disclaimers with a playful yet structured layout that complements the social and highly visual environment.
